About Asbury Park
Asbury Park is a continuing care retirement community which supports life while enhancing physical, social, emotional and spiritual wellness through caring staff, innovative programs, and benevolent support. We are also a not-for-profit retirement community located in Newton, Kansas - related to the Kansas East and Kansas West Conferences of the United Methodist Church.
Asbury Park is dedicated to providing a continuum of care for older adults. Our organization provides caring services to assure that life continues to have meaning and dignity. As a mission of the United Methodist Church, we provide our services in an atmosphere of Christian care and concern.
Asbury Park is situated on a 34-acre campus at the south edge of Newton. Asbury Park finds itself snuggled between the traditional neighborhood homes of Newton and the vastly developing business and shopping district just off the I-35 and Hwy 50 interchange. Situated in this premier location for retirement living, Asbury Park elders are in the neighborhood of restaurants, shopping, Newton Medical Center, Chisholm Trail Mall, and the Sand Creek Station golf course. Guests of elders may reserve one of Asbury Park's guest rooms when coming for an overnight visit.
Our pledge to individuals considered for residency is that they will receive the highest quality care in the most ethical manner.
Our community represents an engaging, friendly neighborhood and an unhurried place where elders can feel relaxed and away from it all while receiving the assistance that they need or desire when they need it.

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
Beginning December 18, 2008, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will rate the quality of nursing homes and report the ratings on its website, Nursing Home Compare. Under the new system, each facility participating in Medicare or Medicaid, or both, will receive a rating of one to five stars for each of three dimensions (health surveys, staffing, and quality measures), a composite rating that combines all three dimensions, and a separate rating for registered nurses (RNs). This new system of reporting has some limitations that must be understood in order to make educated consumer decisions about nursing home care options. We welcome the opportunity to explain this new system, what our scores mean as related to quality nursing home care and the limitations with this new system. We are very proud of the quality care that we provide, some of which is not captured in this new report. Please call Marlene Pietrocola, RN, MSN, MBA, Director, Clinical Operations at (316) 283-4770 for further information.
